Made by the the Basques from wild plums which together with some coffee beans and vanilla pods is soaked in anise (an aniseed flavoured alcohol) for several months. The result is a reddish brown, slightly aniseed flavoured 'sloe pastis' Served chilled over ice as a 'digestif.'
